Who can become a TAACS member? Membership is open to Tunisian and foreign BA, MA, and Ph.D. students, as well as teachers affiliated with Tunisian or non-Tunisian English Departments or doctoral programs.
How can I become a member? You can join TAACS by attending one of our events, where a membership officer will assist you with the registration process. If you’re unable to attend an event, contact our regional focal points: Mr. Chokri Ghanney at the Faculty of Humanities of Sousse (FLSHS), or Dr. Yosra Amraoui at the Higher Institute of Languages of Tunis (ISLT), or send a message through our Facebook page, and your request will be directed to the appropriate officer.
Can non-English majors join TAACS? TAACS is dedicated exclusively to American Cultural Studies, so only English majors, researchers, and educators are eligible for membership.
I studied English but had to stop my studies. Can I still join TAACS? Absolutely! TAACS aims to inspire members to continue their education and research journeys.
I live abroad; can I join TAACS? Tunisian citizens and foreign residents in Tunisia who meet the eligibility criteria can become members by completing the enrollment process.
Membership Process
What documents are required for membership? To join, you need to:
Provide proof of affiliation with the English student/teacher community.
Complete our membership application form.
Read and agree to our by-laws.
Pay the annual subscription fee.
Foreign residents in Tunisia must also present their residence permit to comply with our by-laws.
How much does the membership fee cost? The membership fee is 30 Tunisian Dinars per year.
How long does a membership last? Membership is valid from January 1st to December 31st, regardless of the date of purchase.
How can I renew my membership? Simply contact us and pay your annual membership fee.
I live far from Sousse. How can I pay my membership fee? You can pay through a regional focal point or via bank/postal transfer. Contact us through Facebook or email for assistance.
Where can I retrieve my membership card? You can collect your card from Mr. Chokri Ghanney at the Faculty of Humanities of Sousse, from your focal point, or during the next event. A digital card option is also available upon request.

How does TAACS benefit MA students? TAACS supports MA students by helping them build their research profiles and academic identities. Events focus on methodologies, ideation, and writing strategies, while peer review groups facilitate discussions on thesis chapters and publication drafts.
How does TAACS benefit undergraduate students? TAACS organizes events on American culture, history, politics, and media, helping students deepen their understanding of U.S. contexts. Workshops enhance critical thinking, research skills, and writing techniques. Scholarship guidance, certifications, and recommendations are also available where applicable.
I am a primary or high school teacher of English. How can TAACS help me? TAACS offers workshops on integrating American cultural concepts into course design and teaching strategies. These workshops help teachers introduce U.S. history and culture to younger learners and support their professional growth.
What are my duties and rights as a TAACS member? Duties: Adhere to our by-laws, respect the research community, and maintain the association’s reputation. Rights: Access all association activities and benefits. After two consecutive years of membership, you gain the right to vote for the executive board and request to join subcommittees.
Events and Participation
Can non-members attend TAACS events? Priority is given to members and affiliates of Tunisian English departments. While some large-scale events may be open to non-members, exclusive workshops and webinars are reserved for members.
Will in-person events be live-streamed? Live streaming may be available for members if the event venue supports high-quality internet and video/sound equipment.
Where is TAACS headquartered? Our headquarters is in Hammam Sousse. Events typically occur at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Sousse, but they may also take place in other locations.
